Our Paint and Refinishing Process

Every paint job at Englewood Auto Body follows the same documented process. We begin with thorough surface preparation - cleaning, sanding, and priming the repair area. Then we analyze your vehicle's existing paint using a spectrophotometer to determine the exact color formula including any fade from age and sun exposure. We mix a custom batch in-house, apply it in our climate-controlled spray booth, and finish with clear coat and polish. The result is a seamless blend that is indistinguishable from the original factory finish.

Computerized Color Matching

Paint color matching is a science, not guesswork. We use spectrophotometer technology to measure the precise color values of your vehicle's existing paint. This data is fed into our mixing system to produce a formula that accounts not just for the original factory color code, but for the natural shift that paint undergoes over years of UV exposure. The result blends - it does not just approximate.

Climate-Controlled Spray Booth

Temperature, humidity, and airborne particles all affect paint quality. Our dedicated spray booth maintains controlled conditions throughout the application and curing process. Dust and debris are filtered out. Temperature is regulated. This produces a finish that is uniform, smooth, and durable - not just visually consistent.

Single Panel to Full Vehicle

We handle everything from a single panel respray after a minor scratch repair to complete vehicle repaints. Whatever the scope, the process is the same. We do not take shortcuts on small jobs or rush large ones. Every vehicle that goes through our paint process comes out with the same standard of finish.

Lifetime Paint Warranty

We stand behind our paint work with a lifetime warranty valid for as long as you own the vehicle. If any paint we apply peels, fades abnormally, or fails in any way, bring your vehicle back and we will correct it at no cost to you.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you bring your vehicle in.

How do you match paint on my vehicle?

We use a spectrophotometer to measure the exact color values of your existing paint, including natural fade from UV exposure. This data generates a custom mixing formula that produces paint matched to your specific vehicle - not just the factory color code. The result blends with surrounding panels rather than standing out as obviously new.

What is a clear coat and why does it matter?

Clear coat is the transparent protective layer applied over the color coat on all modern vehicles. It provides UV protection, chemical resistance, and the gloss you see on the surface. Proper clear coat application and blending is critical to a seamless repair. We apply clear coat to the repair area and blend it into adjacent panels so the finish is uniform.

Can you paint just one panel, or do I need a full repaint?

In most cases a single panel can be repainted and blended to match the surrounding panels seamlessly. A full repaint is only necessary when there is damage across most of the vehicle or when the existing paint has faded or deteriorated significantly enough that blending is not achievable. We assess this at the estimate and explain your options honestly.

How long does a paint job take?

A single panel repair typically adds one to two days to the overall repair timeline for preparation, application, and curing. A multi-panel job takes longer depending on scope. We never rush paint curing - doing so compromises the finish and durability. We give you a specific timeline at your estimate.

Does your paint warranty cover fading?

Our lifetime warranty covers paint that fades abnormally, peels, blisters, or otherwise fails due to defects in our workmanship or materials. Normal gradual color shift from long-term UV exposure that matches the rest of your vehicle is not a defect. If you are ever uncertain whether something is covered, bring the vehicle in and we will evaluate it at no charge.

Can you match paint on a vehicle that has been repainted before?

Yes. Our spectrophotometer measures the actual color on your vehicle, regardless of whether it is factory original or a prior repaint. This is the advantage of measuring rather than using color codes alone - we work with what is actually on your vehicle, not what was specified years ago in a factory.
